Museum Collections on Tour – From a Shopping Bag to Gallen-Kallela

1–22 October 2026, Prisma Mikkola, Pori

In October, the collections of the Satakunta Museum will be on display in an unusual setting at Prisma Mikkola. The exhibition Museokokoelmat kylässä – Kauppakassista Gallen-Kallelaan (Museum Collections on Tour – From a Shopping Bag to Gallen-Kallela) showcases the diversity of the museum’s collections by bringing everyday objects, vintage food and cosmetic packaging, and rarer collection treasures to the aisles of the supermarket. Highlights include a fragment of the original dome fresco of the Jusélius Mausoleum, painted by Akseli Gallen-Kallela.

The exhibition explores how museum collections document both everyday life in Satakunta and significant cultural and historical phenomena in the region. At the same time, it offers visitors an opportunity to encounter cultural heritage in the midst of their everyday routines.

The exhibition is part of the Satakunta Museum’s Kokoelmien voima (The Power of Collections) project, which aims to make the collections more visible to the public and to explore new meanings for them together with visitors.

The exhibition can be visited during Prisma Mikkola’s regular opening hours. Free admission.
