Satakunta Museum invites you to photograph industry and it’s traces around us
Photo Collecting
How do industry and its traces manifest in everyday life? And what traces of industry are we leaving behind in our own time? From shipyards to factory chimneys, from radio stations to ironworks—traces of industry are all around us in Pori.
The Satakunta Museum is collecting photographs with the theme “Traces of Industry” from September 21 to November 20, 2026. During the period, we invite people to explore industry and its various traces in their daily lives and surroundings through photography. The collected images will be showcased in the “Traces of Industry” exhibition, opening at the Rosenlew Museum in the autumn of 2027.
There are many ways to interpret “traces of industry” through the camera lens for this collection. Subjects might include, for example, a decommissioned industrial building or one that has been repurposed—perhaps one you pass on your way home—a power line peeking out from behind trees in a local park, or railway tracks being reclaimed by the forest. Or could a trace be something less visible, such as a specific situation or atmosphere?
Photo Contest
Alongside the collection drive, there is also an opportunity to participate in a photo contest based on the same theme. The contest is open to all photographers, whether hobbyists, semi-professionals, or full-time professionals. Entries will be judged with a particular focus on the concept and execution of the photograph. The photos judged best in the competition will be featured in the Rosenlew Museum’s Teollisuuden jäljet (Traces of Industry) exhibition. Competition winners will also receive a Museum Card and a surprise package from the museum shop. The winner will be announced via the Satakunta Museum’s channels and notified personally.
Submitting photos
Please read the instructions and rules for the photo collection drive and competition first.
There are two steps to submitting photos for the collection drive and competition:

The photo collecting and photography competition are organized as part of the project Baltic’s Past and Future: Uniting Our Heritage through NEB Initiatives, funded by the European Union’s Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. The project is part of the European Commission’s New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative, which aims to create more sustainable, inclusive, and beautiful shared spaces. For this transformation to be truly impactful, it must be grounded in our shared cultural heritage and actively co-created by citizens.
