News from Pori – Early Newspaper Photos from Satakunnan Kansa

16.5.–28.9.2025, Museokuja
What did Pori look like through the eyes of its first press photographers? This exhibition showcases early newspaper photos from Satakunnan Kansa, dating from the 1930s to the 1950s. Familiar places, everyday life, and local events are captured from a distinctly Pori perspective. Early photographers like Henrik Seppänen and Sven Raita documented the city in a way that still resonates today.
The images are part of a digitization project carried out by Satakunta Museum and Satakunnan Kansa between 2018 and 2020, during which nearly 8,000 historical negatives were preserved. The full collection is available online at: satakunnanmuseo.finna.fi
Welcome on a time travel to old Pori!
The exhibition is produced by Satakunta Museum and Satakunnan Kansa.
